Payola - It's still happening

Fresh off my rant on Corporate Radio I picked up this week's ECHO and found the following article, WHISTLE BLOWN

Within a pile of emails found and subsequently made public, Sony BMG officials were caught bribing radio programmers with high–end vacation packages and electronics, as well as covering radio station operational expenses, in order to guarantee airtime for their clients — or, as we like to call them, their bands.

Payola (pay-for-play) was made illegal in the 1960 but despite that it still goes on and is the reason you'll hear bands that aren't that good or should of long since faded away being played to death. I guess that's how business is done and why the best music out there sometimes never finds it's audience because they don't have the label behind them greasing up the wheels of corporate radio.
