Mail Tales

I look forward to picking up the mail even though most days there's nothing but the useless free paper or bills. This week I got one bill and a couple of credit card offers. A slow week. That was until today, I got a blank white envelope with a clear plastic window that has my name and address in it. Could it be my new credit card? Possibly a cheque? (who would send me a cheque...I don't know but it looked like an envelope a cheque would come in.)

Nope... It was an exclusive offer from EXCLUSIVELY WOMEN'S FITNESS CENTRE. How did they get my name and why am I on there mailing list?

Is it just me or is even the mail mocking me?

I bought the house I'm living in, in December of 2004 it was from the estate of a man who had died unexpectedly during day surgery in June of that year. Upon moving in I received 4 or 5 pieces of mail addressed to him within the first month, most having to do with some sort of insurance. After that there was nothing, I was surprised and figured that credit card offers and other crap would keep rolling in but it didn't. Instead, I quickly found my way on to their mailing lists and was given exciting offer after exciting offer.

This week when I've received 3 pieces of mail address to him why after a year and half did they decide...Maybe Mr.Jack would enjoy reading Macleans in the afterlife or that even when dead it's a good idea to shop in bulk for the savings at Costco.

Although the people who lived in our house before us did not die, the same thing happened to us. At first we would get their mail and phone calls, and then they stopped. About a year later it started again. It's a phenomenon that seems to plague all of us used home owners.

I get 1 or 2 letters a day addressed to the people next door... some has my address but their name on the top, which must mean they screwed up when they filled out a draw or raffle... other times its their address and name which means my mail woman is a moron... why do we have to go through life with these people wasting out air...
