Stephen Colbert's Alpha Squad 7: Lady Nocturne: A Tek Jansen Adventure

Stephen Colbert's Alpha Squad 7: Lady Nocturne: A Tek Jansen Adventure is hitting the shelves July 11th as a 5 part comic series by Oni Press. Each issue will contain 2 separate stories. The first by John Layman and Tom Peyer with art by Scott Chantler. And a second self contained story by Jim Massey and art by Robbi Rodriguez.

There's an interview with the writer Jim Massey and a full 7 page story Horn Like Me.

Colbert also has a hardcover coming out in October - I Am America (And So Can You!) which is available for pre-order from Amazon which I'm sure is fantastic as I can tell by the cover it's already the recipient of the much coveted Dr. Stephen T Colbert Award for The Literary Excellence.

Cecil Vortex has an interview with Bizzaro's Dan Piraro. It's pretty crazy you should check it out. Covering his start, what keeps him going and how he had to keep coming up with an idea a day even when his world was crumbling around him.

"Within a couple of days, she moved out, and that was just the end of a marriage. And I didn't even know we were having trouble. It was like, Monday everything was fine and by Wednesday my entire world had fallen apart. My kids were crying. And, you know, it was just a really, really horrible time. At the time I was convinced that, were it not for the kids, I would kill myself. That’s how miserable I was. And yet I had to write a funny idea every day and keep my cartoon deadline going. And it just felt like such a curse. That was the one time in my life when it was really, really hard."

RSS Feed

I've never been one to bookmark things, I have all my favourite sites are in the pull down bar of my browser and if it somehow falls off of the bar, I stop visiting. That is until is discovered this thing called RSS feeds about a year ago (when someone subscribed to the RSS feed of my site!...isn't technology great!)

Now if I come across some site that's great and I plan to add it to my regular surfing routine I just subscribe to the feed through Bloglines and check the site when an update is posted (compared to my previous OCD method where I would check all my favourite sites every couple of hours or so seeing if anything was new). Now I just add a feed.

Dilbert Submission

Scott Adams has posted his submission package for Dilbert that he sent out in 1988. Along with the rejection letters that followed. Excellent stuff!

Glad someone came to there senses and gave Mr. Adams a shot!

Scott Adams also recently posted his routine for creating Dilbert. He draws his strip on a Wacom Cintiq 21UX. Oh man what I wouldn't give for one of those! I draw using a Wacom Graphire 4x5. Which is the equivalant of drawing on the back of a pack of cigarettes.

Neglect

I've been neglecting the blog part of this site. I wasn't seeing too many interesting things that I could either share, add to, comment on or make fun of. Or at least none that warranted the time it takes to sit down and post about it.

I figured that 3 comics a week was a enough to fill up the site. I was wrong, it's feeling a little stale. So I'm going to try to make an effort to make it worthwhile to stop by here Monday to Friday with more posts.

I've updated to the latest version of Movable Type and there's a built in spam filter for comments. I switched comments to auto-post, so instead waiting for me to verify them you should see your comments up right away. That is unless it's filled with penis enlargement and penny stock tips.
