This might be a regional joke, I'm not sure how far reaching Peaches & Cream is as a variety of sweet corn.
It's been a while since the last corn related comic. There seems to be a few of them.

Yeah, that's pretty regional. Your explanation makes it make sense and I giggled, but at least in Northern California I'm unaware of corn varieties. We're not exactly a corn state.
